Private Gardens of Melancholy Workshop (Enfield Poets Literary Festival)

Sunday 27th September, 10.30am - 11.30am

In this exploratory workshop participants will reflect on their own histories and the Earth’s history, drawing inspiration from nature and the flow of seasons.

You will explore how sorrow and other challenges can help you embrace growth. Together, participants will share stories and perform them - to build confidence in day-to-day interactions with ourselves, our community, and the natural world.

Everyone will be partners in this process, encouraged to embrace the outcome: each person’s story will become part of a shared story of the day.

This workshop is led by Abe Gibson, a London-born poet, storyteller and performer whose work blends observation, imagination and lived experience. A former writer-in-residence at the London Transport Museum and Feltham Young Offenders’ Institution, he has performed across the UK, featured on BBC Radio 4, and led creative writing projects with communities of all ages.

The Enfield Poets Literary Festival is a celebration of words, voices and creativity in our community, bringing together established and emerging writers for readings, workshops, discussions and more.
